Out of the three options presented, the best option in my opinion is option 1, the one offered by Manning to give his wife a job in the same company in the public relations and modify their personnel policy on employment of spouses. I believe this to be the best option because by doing so, although it isn’t guaranteed to fix the problem at hand, it is most likely going to. This will happen because Manning’s wife will begin to feel useful again and it will decrease her depression. Apart from this, the company won’t be losing one of its best employees Manning and risk the next person to come along, will perform as well as job and also there is no way to know for sure that the next person hired, won’t be presented with a similar issue.
